W is for When They Go Low…
You know the rest of the quote, but here’s the lady herself, explaining how and why she adopts this belief:
And, more recently, her take on the topic at the DNC convention last year.

But, I can hear you say (because I say it too), they are going so very low. They don’t play by the rules. It may take fire to fight fire.
Now, I love a good MAGA-bashing meme—I mean, there’s so much to make fun of. But this strategy does not work and lessens us if we do it too much. Instead of decrying the ridiculous, hypocritical, cluster-fuck that is the MAGA movement, we need to concentrate on the exact opposite. What does the U.S. stand for? What have our people fought and died for? What do we want for our kids and grandkids? And how are we going to get there?
Having said that, I have to admit that a part of my blackened heart takes issue with the Marcus Aurelius quote, “The best revenge is not to be like your enemy.” That part of my soul tells me the best revenge is actual bloody revenge—Happily, I think we can do both.
Going high doesn’t mean we don’t raise hell. It just means we don’t stoop to petty third-grade, mean-girl insults. And I don’t want any of our revenge to be petty. I want it to be decisive, devastating, and permanent.
I’m going to try really, really hard to be an adult—or at least adult-ish—and refrain from Trump bashing except on policy and criminal behavior. I think there’s plenty of fodder in those two subjects.
However, for those of you with Trump-baby balloons, do as you will.
