S.K. Reviews Death on a Scottish Train, a Cozy Mystery with a Romantic Twist

Grab the haggis and tea, and don’t forget a pair of sturdy wellies. We’re going to Scotland! NetGalley provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Modern day. Small Scottish village. She’s a transplanted American with a past she’d like to forget. Now she’s building a new life as the town doc. When the need arises—as it does with regularity in Scotland—she serves as the coroner. Oh, and she has a wee crush on the local constable. He’s the son of well-to-do parents, and he has a wee crush on the coroner, too. But neither of them wants to admit what all of their friends can see.

Meanwhile, the latest tourist attraction in town is a train ride that features local storytellers in each car. Wine, snacks, and a good time are guaranteed. The maiden voyage goes perfectly. Except for that one guy who winds up dead.

Suspects and motives abound as our coroner and constable investigate.

Death on a Scottish Train by Lucy Connelly is a highly enjoyable Scottish cozy with suspense, a budding romance, and a plethora of surprises that will keep you guessing. All with the flavor and atmosphere of Scotland. Nicely written, lots of fun.

Death on a Scottish Train is book 4 in Connolly’s Scottish Isle Mysteries series. I have not read the other books in the series, but this one stands nicely on its own. I bet the others are just as much fun, though. I’d suggest grabbing them as you wait for Death on a Scottish Train to be released in October.
