Thanks, Rochelle, for hosting this party for two glorious years. I just started a little over a year ago. This little weekly exercise to write a 100 word (more or less) story using the photo prompt challenges us to cut the excess but precious verbiage– “killing our darlings” a few at a time every week. Great practice!! to read and/or post, follow the froggy link.
Rules Are Made To Be Broken
“Witches can’t’ cross water. It’s a rule. She’s on the other side of the river. We’re safe.” I propped my feet on the coffee table.
“You shouldn’t have killed her cat.” She picked up the binoculars.
“You can’t kill a cat; they have nine lives.”
“Maybe you used up its last one. That would really piss her off.”
“Stop staring at the sky. I tell you she can’t cross the river.”
“Then why do I see something flying this way?”
“It’s a bird. Or a plane.”
“No such luck. Good news. The cat’s with her. And they’re making good time”
Warning: Shameless Self-Promotion follows.
My first novel, Just Like Gravity, is due to be released on November 3. It’s a paranormal romance/adventure kind of thing. If you’ve enjoyed any of my Friday fictioneering, please follow this blog for updates.

Dear Sorchia, Great Halloween story! Unfortunately, you have pissed her off and start looking over your shoulder! Good job! Nan 🙂
The cat didn’t die… that can only be good news. The incoming flight… maybe not so much. Snappy tale. 🙂
Well, at least the cat’s okay. Maybe she’ll only do something dreadful to one of them.
Great story, fun and creative, and do a detect a hint of superman in there ? “It’s a bird. Or a plane.” Good read.
You’re not safe anywhere when angry witches are hunting you, I expect. I’m glad the cat’s ok.
Start running!
Dear Sorchia,
Tracking a witch’s flight? Apparently she can cross the river. 😉 Thanks for the anniversary wishes. I can’t believe two years have passed so quickly. And thank you for taking part. It’s not a solo act.
Shalom,
Rochelle
