About Sorchia

I’m S.K. Dubois—writer, editor, and unapologetic lover of all things wonderfully weird and magically delicious. I call the Missouri Ozarks my home, where the misty woods and mysterious hills inspire my tales of urban fantasy, paranormal mysteries, and otherworldly mayhem. When I’m not conjuring up stories, I’m helping fellow authors polish their manuscripts, especially if they involve magic, murder, or things that go bump in the night.

Outrage 2 comments

O is for Outrage Ok—organize is the obvious choice for this O day and I was all set to write a post about how we need to organize and protest and organize our lives to get rid of the stress of clutter and organize for change and while all those things are true, the word that kept popping into my head was OUTRAGE. I am outraged that innocent people are being snatched off the streets by my government, in my […]

Golden Blood–S.K. Reviews

S.K. Reviews Golden Blood Intriguing Concept Wedged in a Tight Space Golden Blood by Tim Vee is an imaginative tale with some nice twists. Here’s my problem—This reads more like a synopsis than a novel. Not a lot of character development—mostly telling about the action instead of showing. Limited dialogue. There is no real MC until toward the end. So many opportunities for suspense and creepiness were missed. I noted some editing issues, such as inconsistent names and other things, […]

Learn 3 comments

L is for Learn The thing about Grannies is that even though we’ve been learning all along the way, the vast amount of knowledge in the world is well beyond the capacity of even a Grannie to encompass totally. There’s always plenty more to learn, and there are always plenty of reasons to keep learning. Yes, we are wise and we have a wealth of experience, but life comes at you fast. One thing that has always really annoyed me […]

Karma 2 comments

Random thoughts on Karma—I keep waiting for it to kick in. K is for Karma But Karma isn’t any of my business. You can’t get too attached to a desired outcome—you have to keep on keepin’ on, keep on doing what you feel is right, and let the Universe sort out everything else.  Karma is kind of a mastery course. You’re going to keep having the same problems until you master whatever it takes to move on. As ye sow, […]

Ok. Time for something different. Here are some political jokes—I’ve tried to pick nonpartisan stuff that we can all appreciate. Some are old, but I think we all need a laugh right about now. Add your own jokes below—be nice-ish. J is for Jokes As a Russian citizen, I am confused about why it takes America so long to get a definitive result from their election—we know our results months in advance! Remember when Halloween was the scariest night of […]

Identity 1 comment

So many cautionary tales exist about people whose identities have been stolen with dire consequences. And we are all concerned about certain people who shall remain nameless (but whose name begins with Elon and ends with Musk) who now have access to our Social Security, IRS, and other data. Take care of your online identity. I is for Identity Use strong passwords and change them regularly. Do not use the same password on multiple sites. Oh, I know the problem […]
